Who’s your favourite music artist? For me, it is a hard choice because I’m a music lover and I have a lot of favourites. But if I was to pick JUST one… it would be P!nk.
I have always leaned towards artists who write their own music. You can tell when it comes right from the soul. P!nk’s music definitely tells her stories and if you can’t connect with the lyrics yourself, you can often just connect with the passion she has in her voice and the music.
We got to experience her in Vegas while she was on tour. My Mom and Dad came with us. My Dad still talks about that concert to this day. Her aerial acrobatics, her strong powerful voice and her entertainment. All wrapped up into one amazing performance.
I also love what she puts out into the world in terms of being a woman. Her honesty. She has talked about how its not easy being in the public eye as a woman, artist and mother. Always someone to criticize and judge. But she’s grown. Maybe its that 40 thing… the gaining of the “I don’t give a fuck factor”.
She’s been judged on her relationships, parenting, body and even most recently, covid. I don’t doubt that those cuts and stabs sting a little even still. However, when you can see the bigger picture and know that you are contributing to the world’s greatness in some small way, those who judge are the ones who haven’t met their full awareness. They are the ones living in the box, rather than this big, beautiful, mysterious, crazy life.
I’m going to leave the lyrics of one of her newest songs here. This song resonates so deeply with me right now. With the change I’ve had within myself over the past few months… well and years to be honest. Learning to live with authenticity and not worrying (too much anymore) about what others think. As a wise, loving person once told me, “Bring your greatness into the world. That is your purpose. Imperfect and unapologetically.” So… “Here I am”
